W: Drive

The W: drive on Windows systems will map files from the course Web server to your local computer. A few steps are required to setup the mapping.

IUS - Video example

  1. To map the W: drive:
    1. Computer
      • If W: is already mapped to the IUS Web server, right click on the drive and Disconnect.
    2. Map Network drive
    3. Drive: W
    4. Folder: \\iu-uits-eiwp1.ads.iu.edu\username\wwwroot
    5. Finish
    6. Login using: ads\username
                        password
  2. Access files on Web server (the default file is index.htm): http://iu-uits-eiwp1.ads.iu.edu/username/index.htm

Off-campus - Video example

To map W: from off-campus, the simplest and highest performance method is to define a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection and then map the local W: to the course Web server.

  1. Download and install: http://iuware.indiana.edu/title.aspx?id=1084

    Software will install that provides a VPN connection necessary to connect to the course Web server.

  2. Browser address: http://sslvpn.ius.edu

    Login using:     ads\username
                          password

  3. Follow above directions for W: use at IUS.
