Don't Support Kentucky Fried Chicken!

KFC supports cruelty to animals
And refuses to make reforms.

This is a picture I took of protesters at the KFC on Bardstown Road in Louisville. Despite the fact that there had been snow on the ground, there was still enough compassion to protest animal cruelty.

The Facts

Many people have the misconception that the meat they are eating is allowed to roam free on a big spacious farm before meeting a painless death and getting eaten. This, however, couldn't be further from the truth. The type of farms used by chain restaurants like KFC are called factory farms. In these type of farms, animals are restricted to cages their entire lives and are often not even allowed to see their own mother. The chickens often face the worse cruelty of all.

Chickens are confined to a cage that is about the size of a piece of standard computer paper. The cage is completely made of wires causing the chickens to have stand on sharp edges and sometimes even get their toes caught in the metal. These cages are crammed with several chickens which often leads to the suffocation of many of the animals. If that isn't horrible enough, the chickens have their beaks cut off as chicks in order to prevent them from pecking eachother when they are scared. Many chickens die from the beak removal due to painful eating which eventually and slowly leads to starvation. The chickens that survive these obstacles can look forward to being pumped full of antibiotic food that rapidly and unhealthily increaces their weight. The final cruel step for the chickens includes being put into boiling hot water while they are still alive to help remove their feathers and then having their throats slit.
