Wand making
Since we don't want the muggles to feel left out, we are offering
them a chance to make their own fake wands. You will select a wand, decorate it,
and determine what magical substance that you want at its core.
Mirror of Erised
The Mirror of Erised (Desire spelled backwards), shows the person
looking into their deepest wishes and dreams. For Harry, it shows him surrounded
by his family, since he grew up as an orphan. For Ron, it shows him as Quidditch
captain and Head Boy, standing out among all of his brothers, since he has
always lived in their shadow. We were very curious to see that the mirror works
for muggles as well as wizards. Please, step up to the Mirror of Erised and see.
Animagus Writing
Some people in the wizarding world are
Animagi. An Animagus
is a wizard that can turn into an animal. But the wizard can't pick the animal
they turn into. They turn into the animal that best fits their personality. I am
very sorry to say that muggles cannot be Animagi. However, muggles have a
fantastic device that wizards don't have. That is a computer. I want you to use
your computer to look up some magical creatures to determine what you think you
would turn into.
Maurader's Map
Pssst! Come over here. I want to show you something! My name is
Harry Potter. You look lost. Fred and George Weasley gave me this map in my
third year. It is a map of Hogwart's and everyone in it! It is called the
Marauder's Map. It's pretty great. You can use it today if you want to. It
would probably be really good to make a map like this of something in your own
life, in case someone needs to use it.
Arithmancy
Welcome to Arithmancy class! This is Hermione Granger's favorite
subject. This is an ancient practice that is basically fortune telling based on
names and numbers. Use the handout provided to determine your Character Number,
which tells you about your personality. Also determine the numbers for the students and
teachers listed. Does the meaning of the number apply to you? Do the meanings of
the numbers apply to the people listed?
