Hello. Welcome to my homepage. My name is Karilyn Gramig and I am a special education teacher in Louisville, KY. I am currently taking P515 Child Development in pursuit of a masters degree in counseling. When I first heard about writing a childhood memento I had a million ideas. I had trouble choosing just one.
The childhood memory I would like to share is my many trips to the beach with my family. We went to the beach every year for as long as I can remember. My mom, grandma, grandpa, brother, aunt, uncle and myself would load up in the car and head for the beach. We usually went to South Carolina. We visited many different beaches. We had so much fun together. We would head out to the beach in the early morning and lay out in the sun and play in the sand until it was time for lunch. Then we would go back to the beach house and have lunch and then head right back out to the beach. Some nights we would go out to dinner to a seafood restaurant and play putt putt golf or ride go carts. Every night we would go get ice cream. After we had dinner and a little bit of fun we would go out for an evening walk on the beach.
We have tried to keep this tradition alive even though we have left home and started our own families. We now bring all of our families together and go on a vacation to the beach. I love going back to the beach because it reminds me of all the fun times I have had with my family. When I can't get back to the beach I listen to ocean sounds and dream of being on the beach. This helps me relax and forget about my life's troubles. Thinking of my family trips to the beach always brings me warm, safe feelings. I hope to give my daughter many warm childhood memories from the beach.
