August-September 2006
This is taken from a hill on the south end of the city. Miriam is pointing to where our house is, we live at the very edge of town.
In the other direction from the picture above is a large artificial lake and a park. This is the beginning of a area of very old mountains which are part of a national park.
This is the town center and church. Tandil is only 120,000 people, pretty small.
This is our apartment, number three of four in this building. The other door is to our outdoor patio.
Here is the inside. The bathroom is to the right and the bedroom upstairs. Small but pretty new and very quiet.
This is a sculpture in front of the university. It is a Ford Falcon which a huge clothes pin squishing it. It was explained to us that the desparicidos were often taken away (never to be seen again) in green Ford Falcons so this is a protest against the 'dirty war'. You can see some of the buildings on campus in the background (the campus is pretty new and out on the edge of town).
This is just out of town, a place called 'Sentinel Rock'.
