Villa la Angostura

November 2006

From San Martin de los Andes we took a tour bus through the famous seven lakes area and got off in Villa la Angostura. This is one of the famous seven lakes but I can't remember which one. The dots are sheep. Actually there were more like 70 lakes but for some reason they pick this seven as being famous. Two of the lakes are connected by a short river of 250 yards or so, supposedly the shortest river in the world.

This is the lake between Villa la Angostura and Bariloche, 50 miles away.

This is an architect's house across from the chalet we stayed in which looked like this but without the grass roof. I thought the grass roof was cool.

We did two hikes from Villa la Angostura, one a 12 km hike to this forest of Arrayanes, the only forest of this kind of tree in the world.

This was part of the same hike with overlooks around Villa la Angostura.

On the other side of the hill from the above picture we took the following picture. You pretty much couldn't get away from the beautiful scenery.

We also did a half day kayak trip here.
