Here are some pictures from an asado. This is a traditional dinner consisting of various different meats grilled over a special grill and served hot. Very tasty!
The woman on the right is Graciela Santos who is the primary person who invited me (she has a physics doctorate but works in the science education department). The man on the left is the husband of one of the other women in the group, he is a physicist.
This is Andrea who I share an office with and her husband.
The woman on the left is Silvia, one of the other people who invited me and who hosted this asado. I don't know why we are laughing, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the empty bottle of wine on the table....
Silvia's husband is standing. Irene on the left with her daughter, Stella in the center, Gracela on the right are all in this group of physics education specialists.
This is an estancia near Tandil which is now a secondary school where they also teach kids how to work with farm animals. The statue is the founder of the school, one of the oldest of this type in the country (90 years). There is a commercial cheese production facility on the grounds (cheeses and sausages are specialties of this area).
This is on our way back from Buenos Aires near Tandil. This is from the upper deck of a double decker bus. We are on the left side of the road because, well, Argentine drivers think rules of the road are basically just suggestions and you can take them or leave them. It is a crappy picture through the window of the bus but you can see pampas grass on the right and get an idea of how flat the pampas are. Pretty much like Kansas or Nebraska except cows instead of wheat or corn. So do they call the it the pampas because of the pampas grass or is it called pampas grass because it is found in the pampas? Something I always wanted to know.
I really want to own one of these little Fiats. They are so cool. Our apartment is in the background, the blue doors are for apartment 1 in our building.
This is the ol' 503 that I take to the university.
Here are a couple of houses near us.
These are links to movies of two intersections in Tandil. Let us know if you figure out what the traffic rules are for this corner.
