So far I haven't been able to get to the Hartree-Fock applet so we may have to just move on to chapter 6.

Wikipedia's verson of the graph of ionization energies.

9/27

Quiz.

We are not going to spend much time on chapter 6. Here is an applet that explains lasers.

Chapter 6. Do questions on page 142: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.

Chapter 9. Do questions on page 233: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15.

I've decided we will skip chapter 10. Read this chapter from another book, electronic properties of solids, instead.

10/18&20
Homework: You are writting brief definitions of piezoelectric, thermoelectri, ferroelectric and superconductivity to send to me electronically. We will discuss these in class.
