really can be cheap and easy.

Create sounds, record sounds, analyze (FFT) sounds,
create .wav files. Free software available.
- Wavelet transforms: Time
versus frequency plots (specrograms) provide more info
than an FFT. Free software available.
- Applets: for
teaching about waves and sound. My favorites are:
