A Race to Bring Family Together
As a child turning five years old, I wanted a power wheeled jeep. Instead of getting a jeep I received a pw50cc motorcycle. Within the next month, my family and I were traveling to states surrounding Indiana to race motocross. Most of the time, I was the only girl racing, but I loved every second of it. The boys would cry if I beat them while they were saying ‘you let a girl beat you’. I raced from the time I was five until I turned fourteen. My dad insisted I quit racing when I started moving on to bigger bikes and getting to crazy on them. During those years I spent weekends with my family and have many great memories.
The time with my parents have really taught me how important family is. In adulthood, I still tease my parents about leaving for the track. Family is my main focus and is very important to me. We still do many activities together today such as vacations, weekend road trips, and family nights. I have implemented the importance of family to my students, even though I know most of them have not had the childhood that I did. Family, to me, is people who will always be there for you no matter what. I believe family will continue to remain an important aspect in my life.
