The staff is comprised completely of students. The editor-level positions are paid, while the rest of the staff earns class credit in C327 – Writing for Mass Media. Education majors and journalism minors are required to take one semester of The Horizon. Journalism majors have to take two semesters.
Although there are no official prerequisites for C327, it is highly recommended that students take J200 before taking The Horizon. Editors are highly encouraged to take J210, Visual Communications, before becoming editors.
The Horizon is published 12 times a semester. There are no summer issues. About 2,000 copies of The Horizon are distributed on campus on Monday.
