Word Processing Exercise

1. Start Program – Word.

2. Look at position of Insertion point - Type in your first and last name. Where is the Insertion Point now?

3. Place I beam between your first and last name and click mouse. What happen to the Insertion point?

4. Hit the Delete Key. What happen?

5. Hit the Delete Key until your last name totally disappears. Does it now start to delete your first name?

6. Now press the Backspace key. What happens?

7. Now find the undo key and keep clicking it until your whole name returns.

8. Using the arrow key, take it down to the next line. Did it work?

9. Now use the Enter Key. What happen?

10. SAVE – shows you how to save on the hard drive or C:\

· Go to file and click on save.

· Even though you pressed save did the “Save As” Screen come put?

· The first time you most tell it where to put it and what to call it.

· Change to the 3-1/2 disk Drive A.

· Type in name- My name.

· Press save button.

· Look at title bar at top it now has the name of this file

11. Now exit file

12. Open file by starting program and going to file open.

13. SELECT – After typing the text is must be selected before it can be changed. Put I Beam on first letter of your first name, click mouse button and pull down.

14. Change Font by going to Format Font and looking at the dialogue box.

15. Now unselect by clicking on the white area.

16. COPY – PASTE – Now select your name again and go to Edit – then click on Edit – the Copy button.

17. Is your name still there? What happen? Got to edit is paste now highlighted? THE Clipboard program..

18. Now move your insertion point between two of the spaces and type IUS.

19. Select IUS and this time go to Edit, Cut. What happen? Now unselect by clicking on the white area.

20. Select a new spot like in between your first and last name and press past. Press Past button several times. What happen?

21. Go to file exit. What happen?

22. Now start a new program called

23. Now type in this sentence:

alll god men live inn indiana.

24. Now go to Tools – Spelling and Grammar F7 and run it through spell checker. When it is finish, did it do a good job? Why or why not?

25. No put the I beam between the two n’s in inn. Which key do you press to get rid of one of the n’s?

26. Now put the I beam between the o and d in god. Press o. What happen?

27. Click, double click, triple click

28. Double click on good, so it is now selected. Go to Tools.

30. Now go to File, Save. Did the “Save As..” box come up? Why? What is different about the file name this time?
