How to use the Visual Basic Toolbar

Once you start PowerPoint to turn on the VB Toolbars you click on

  • View,
  • Toolbars
  • click on Visual Basic

This box will appear.   Notice the hammer and wrench.

When you point to it, a box will appear telling you it is the Control Toolbox.  Click on it.

The Control Toolbox will appear.  There are several ting to choose from like check boxes, text boxes, command buttons, radial buttons, drop box, etc.

Click on the Text Box and then go to the PowerPoint slide.   The mouse will be a crosshair for drawing.   Draw the box.

Notice here I have drawn two text boxes.

Now right mouse click on one of the text box and this palette will appear.   Go to Properties and click

The properties we are interested in working with are the following:

  • BackColor, - This is the color of the box you have created
  • Borde Color and BorderStyle – These two work together.  If you want a border you must turn on the Border style and then you can select a BorderColor,
  • DragBehavior – When this is enabled you can drag and drop text from on place to another or one text box to another.
  • EnterKeyBehavior – when true you can use your enter key in the text boxes
  • Font – Lets you change the font face, style and size
  • ForeColor – Changes the color of the fonts
  • MultiLine – Allows you have multiple lines in a test box.  However you must turn on the EnterKeyBehavior and the WordWarp for it to work effectively.
  • ScrollBars – This will add a school box that will allow you to see your text
  • Text Align – This makes the text to left, right, or center

WordWrap – allows the text to word wrap to the next line
