Excel Lesson

  1. Students will read What Am I?, discuss animal characteristics.
  2. As a class, students will create a classification chart identifying each animal class, characteristics of the class, and examples of animals from the book that go under each category. 
  3. Partners will then observe pictures of various animals and categorize them by their animal classification.
  4. Students will then use the excel program to create a bar graph that represents the number of animals that belong in each category.

  1. Which animal was represented the most?
  2. Which animal was represented the least?
  3. How many more insects were there than crustaceans?
  4. What was the total of arachnids, insects, and amphibians?
  5. Which was represented more out of reptiles, birds, or fish?

  7. What three classes were represented the most?
  8. What three classes were represented the least?
  9. Which class is your favorite? Why?
