Webytes

A special thanks to the Corporation for Educational Technology for its sponsorship of the Galena/IUS Project.

Who are they?

IU Southeast students and children from Galena Elementary School who have had some training on creating Web pages.

How do the children and the university students collaborate to make Web pages?

The IUS students and their children first convene at the elementary school and decide the topics they would like to pursue. In small groups (having 2 to 5 children and two or three university students), they decide on a "game plan." Some students decide to write narratives on the given topics. Other students develop a questionnaire and distribute it to their peers. They then analyze the data. Working with the college students on the university's campus, they build web pages on these topics.

During 1998, there were eleven children and seven college students who comprised the Webytes who participated in Web Day. To view the pages they created and the links they found to further information on the Web, see below.

During 1999, there were twelve children and nine college students who comprised the Webytes. See their work below.

The 2000 Webytes created web pages together on St. Patrick's Day. There were seventeen children and ten IUS students. Top of the mornin' to you!

The 2001 Webytes worked together on Feb. 16. Twenty Galena children, Steve Smith (Galena teacher) and six IUS pre-service teachers spent a meaningful day together. See their exciting work below.
