In the late summer and fall of 1999, Chris Caffrey and Doug Bentfield, two undergraduate
student researchers from
Indiana University Southeast, led by Dr. Claude Baker and Dr. Bill
Forsyth, set out to the Blue River in Southern Indiana to do a population estimate on three
species of endangered darters that live there. The following pages give a detailed account
of the results of this study including where it was done and how it was conducted.
This capstone project in ecology was conducted by undergraduate research
interns Chris Caffrey and Douglas Bentfield
under the guidance of Dr. Claude Baker and Dr. Bill Forsyth.
It was sponsored by the Dean of Research, Dr. Marcia Segal.
