Special Needs Equipment.  ICCF funding will offer assistance in purchasing appropriate assistive equipment, and/or curriculum materials to specifically meet the needs of individual children with special needs in childcare.  This allows the family to leave the equipment at daycare, instead of transporting it back and forth.  Parents provide the match and the equipment follows the child from daycare to school.  The provider may also choose to provide the match and purchase equipment or curriculum materials for the children with special needs in their care.  Some examples might include, but are not limited to:  specialized chair or seating system, special high chair, resources or materials to promote the use of alternative communication (sign language, etc.), equipment to promote safe independent mobility (wall rails, push toys, walkers, etc.).

Families interested in applying for this grant may complete the application form, attach documentation of the child's special need, and mail to:  The Early Childhood Connection, Attn:  Sheryl Jackson, 601 N. Harrison St., Salem, IN 47167.  Documents may also be faxed to 812-883-6821.  Providers need to complete an alternative application form and may follow this link for more information.
