| Overview |
The exercise purpose is to gain some general understanding of the techniques
used for analysis, design, and implementation of user interfaces. The exercise
follow the methodology for applying the basic principles of analysis and design
to the user interface. These principles will be refined and applied throughout
the remainder of the course.
|
| Methodology |
A methodology is a system of orderly application of methods, sounds like a plan!
We will orderly apply a series of analysis and design steps that will generally
improve the chance that the resulting user interface will be usable and perform
as intended. There are many methodologies, we'll use just one but is important
to have a plan and follow it.

| Analysis |
| Problem statement |
What is the problem to be solved?
- The School of Natural Science needs a new phone tree.
|
| User |
We need to study users because they
determine the success or failure of the user interface. Some of the tasks
for user analysis are:
- Who are the users?
- What do they know the relates to the problem?
- What do they like to do?
- What are their capabilities?
