How to specify paper

• Weight -- pounds per ream (500 sheets)
• Bulk -- thickness (caliper)
• Opacity -- show through
• Color -- dye
• Finish -- coated (clay) or uncoated

Ink

Different from the ink you find in pens -- thicker, more like paint

1. Ink specifications:

Formulation

• Color -- pigments (dry) and dyes (liquid)
• Vehicle -- carrier (oil, resin) -- not water for lithography
• Additives -- driers, fillers, extenders, etc.

Viscosity -- runniness

Tackiness -- stickiness
