We will be studying the American Civil War during the nest few weeks. This scavenger hunt will allow you to gain an overview of the events proceeding and during the war.

 

Please answer the following questions on another sheet of paper and staple it to this scavenger hunt.

  1. How many people fought in the American Civil War?

 

  1. According to the United States Census report, in 1860, what percentage of the total population were slaves?

 

  1. In the history of the Confederate States of America, what event occurred on February 9, 1861?

  1. By February 1, 1861, list the seven states that had seceded from the Union.

 

Follow Up Activity: Using the information you just found, write two paragraphs (three to five sentences for each) comparing the conditions Blacks had to face living in the North and South.
