Required Lab Textbook: Human Anatomy Laboratory Textbook, Sixth Edition, Benson and Talaro.

Required Atlas: A Photographic Atlas of the Human Body, Gerard J. Tortora

Description and Course Objectives: The course will include both lecture and laboratory components. During the lectures I will cover the basic concepts of human anatomy describing the organization of the body as a whole. In addition, we will discuss how the different systems of the body work independently and together. The laboratory sessions will be key to your success in this class, and will be designed to support the lecture sessions and your study of human anatomy.

This is a 5 credit hour class and we will be covering a considerable amount of material during the semester. You should regularly schedule time to prepare for upcoming lectures by reading the assigned chapters and laboratory assignments before the scheduled class. If you miss a class, it is your responsibility to get the notes from a fellow classmate.

I want everyone to learn the material. If you are having trouble in the class, don’t wait too long to come and talk to me. Together, we will try and determine what can be done to improve your understanding and retention of the material.

Attendance: Attendance is required.

Course Policy on Exams: No make-up exams are given. The comprehensive final will serve as a make-up exam for one missed exam only, but in this case will count no higher than 90% of the comprehensive final score. In addition, 90% of the comprehensive final score may be substituted for the lowest lecture and lab exam if no exams were missed in this course. All exams begin at the start of the scheduled exam period.
