CURRENT SCHEDULE - SPRING 2005
My
schedule this semester is highly fluid, due to family commitments
(babies take a lot of your time). I have office hours on Tuesday and
Thursday from 11:00-12:30 and am also available by appointment.
The best way to get in touch with
me is to send e-mail.
TEACHING
This semester I'm teaching SPANISH 317 (Conversation),
SPANISH 363 (Seminar on the Cinema of Almodovar) and SPANISH 407
(Spanish Literature Survey I).
RESEARCH
My area of research is
Spanish Golden Age (Siglo de Oro)
theater. I am especially
interested
in contemporary performances of the Comedia.
My colleague Bonnie Gasior (Cal State -Long Beach) and I recently
edited a volume of essays
titled Crosscurrents: Transatlantic
Perspectives on Early Modern Hispanic Drama.
A list of my publications will be available soon.
I'm a member of the Association for Hispanic Classical Theater, Inc.
(AHCT) and have sat on the Board
of Directors for six years. We meet yearly in El Paso, TX, the site of
the Siglo de Oro drama
festival at the Chamizal National Memorial and the AHCT's
concurrent conference.
As a guide to the AHCT's video archives, which contain video-taped
recordings of the productions staged at Chamizal, I am preparing an
annotated
list of all the plays performed at the festival. This will
make it possible to locate performances by author, director, year,
group, nationality and other characteristics of the staging. It
will also indicate the quality (sound/visual) of the
recording. My goal is to help scholars use this wonderful
resource (the tape collection) effectively and efficiently and,
ultimately, to advance research in the area of Comedia performance
studies. As a first step, the
list is available here in
a searchable format. Feel free to use it and send me feedback!
