Teaching

Give someone a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach someone to fish, and he eats for a lifetime.--Liberian proverb

Teaching Philosophy

In reflecting on my philosophy of teaching, I must first consider my philosophy of life. I believe in the interconnectedness of all things, the interdependence of people, and the impact of the individual on society as a whole. As a teacher, it is within my power to facilitate enlightenment and to help build a community of socially aware and responsible citizens through learning. Opening minds is my lasting contribution to the world and my duty as a teacher. My philosophy of teaching is built on three precepts: the formation of independent thinkers, the development of creative problem solvers, and the nurture of caring individuals.
