TEACHING

 

Assistant Professor, Fall 2009-present, Indiana University Southeast.  Joint appointment in Psychology and International Studies.  Developed lesson plans, classroom lectures, activities and proficiency measures for undergraduate introductory psychology,  human sexuality, abnormal psychology, forensic psychology, and psychological assessment courses.  Initiated a model international immersion learning program to Ghana, West Africa and a History of Psychology study abroad course to Western Europe.

 

Assistant Professor, Fall 2003-Summer 2009, Ball State University.  Developed lesson plans, classroom lectures, activities and proficiency measures for undergraduate abnormal psychology, introductory statistics, international psychology, personality psychology, and survey of clinical psychology as well as graduate cognitive assessment, psychodiagnostics, psychotherapy, clinical orientation, and practicum supervision.  Initiated a model international immersion learning program to Ghana, West Africa.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

 

7/07-12/07, Head counselor, War Affected Children’s Rehabilitation Organization.  Coordinated training and supervision of ten lay trauma counselors.  Implemented a 12-week PTSD treatment program for former Liberian child soldiers.  Duties included report writing, case planning, individual therapy and group supervision.

 

6/06-12/06, Therapist and Examiner, Youth Opportunity Center.  Served as a part-time consultant (16-20 hours/week) performing comprehensive psychological assessments and therapy with juveniles in the foster care and forensic populations.  Duties included report writing, case planning, coordination of services, and individual and family therapy.

 

1/05-8/05, Therapist, Ball State University Counseling and Psychological Services Center.  Provided short- and long-term therapy for a diverse student population.  Duties included individual psychotherapy, assessment, report writing, group supervision of master’s level practicum students, and coordination of referrals.

 

8/02-8/03, Psychology Intern, Indiana University Counseling and Psychological Services Center.  Provided short- and long-term therapy for a diverse student population.  Duties included group and individual psychotherapy, assessment, report writing, supervision of master’s level practicum students, and coordination of referrals.

 

8/99-5/02, Practicum Therapist, Psychological Services Center, University of Louisville, a university-based community mental health agency servicing a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.  Performed an average of 10 hours clinical duties per week including psychological assessment, group and individual psychotherapy for children and adults, report writing, peer supervision, and consultation under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist.

 

8/00-8/01, Practicum Examiner, Psychological Associates, a privately-owned integrative mental health clinic serving predominantly minority and low-income clientele.  Performed an average of five hours per week of assessment services including intelligence, academic, personality, and disability testing and comprehensive report writing under the supervision of a licensed clinical psychologist.
