Cars outfitted for maximum sound might be suspect with the new noise ordinance in Louisville. The noise ordinance was passed Sept. 14, 1999

First violations receive warnings, while "repeat offenders" receive a fine up to $1,000, and/or up to six months in jail. Here are some comments on the new "noise law" from IUS students:

"It's bulls--t. They need to focus more on drug problems, crimes and other things than music."

-Jody Snider

"If people can't go to Phoenix Hill and enjoy themselves, they'll be causing problems in other places."

-Becky Thomas
Sophomore, Psychology major

"It's only respectful."

-Leah Nesmith

"It will be hard to enforce. Too many things to determine."

-Jason Schneider
Senior, Marketing major

"I think it's dumb. They should limit where they put clubs."

-Felicia Smyzer
Junior, Early Education major

"I don't think it will work, for there isn't enough money to enforce it."

-Rob Vest
Freshman, History major
