Browsing the Bars of Internet Explorer

 

Title Bar – Tells the name of page being displayed and Name of program

Command Bar – Contains one word commands.   These commands can help you make your machine run more efficiently.   Notice they are not the same on both Browsers.

Browsing Buttons- These are Icons that allow the computers to navigate the internet with greater speed and accuracy.  Notice buttons are not the same, but do the same thing.

 Back – Takes you back one screen at a time.  Click on the arrow next to this button to see the last 10 places you have been.  Scroll down and click on that page to go right there.

Forward – After you go back, the Forward key will take you forward one screen at a time or click on the arrow next to this button to go to any of the pages you skipped.

Stop – Stops a page from loading.  It is best to stop a page before trying to go on to another.

Home – Takes you back to the opening screen.  This you can choose to anything you want.

Search – To look for something on the internet.  These search sites are set up by your browser and are not always effective.

Favorite - These mark sites you would like to return to in the future

Address or Location Bar - This contains the URL. You can click here using the I-beam and the URL will turn dark blue or selected.  Now type in a new URL.

Link Bar – This bar can contain the links you use most often and want to get to the quickest.

Viewing area – allows you to view web pages.  Most likely you will need to use the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen view the whole page.

Status Bar – This bar tells you the URL of where you are going next.

Task Bar – Notice the number of task buttons.  Sometimes when you click to go to a new screen a new button will open on the task bar.
