Writers of Today….and Tomorrow

If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.  ~Toni Morrison

Welcome to the new world of English. If you are looking at this website, it is because you are a new student of mine, or because you are the parent of one of my many new students. I have built this website for many different reasons. I have found that throughout my years of teaching, that students are more likely to keep up with homework and the class better if they and their parents can have access to everything at the click of a mouse.

My name is Chelsea Allen. I graduated in May 2010 from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelors of Arts in English Writing. That fall, I resumed studies at IUS in pursuit of my teaching license which is how I got here.

I have aspired to be a teacher for a very long time. Although, my majors that I picked throughout college were not always of the education realm. But one reason that I picked education, over many other options, is because of my personal experiences. Throughout high school, as I’m sure many parents can remember, there were certain subjects that I always hated, mostly because of poor teaching habits. My hope, and goal, is to bring English into a new light and give my students a great experience. Many students at this age hate writing. I hope that through this class, they will be more inclined to write, and maybe even learn to enjoy it a little.

On this website you will be able to find anything and everything I hand out in class. If you lose your homework, it will be on here. Every assignment, every worksheet. There will not be any excuses for not having homework. If your dog eats it, print out a new one. Parents I hope that this will also help you become more involved in your child’s education. I hope that you get to see what they are doing and achieving. I am very excited to see what this year has in store for us.
