 You will be divided into groups of three.  Each member in your group will be responsible for a particular task.  You will gather research on your assignment and write a paper of 4-6 pages on the information you find.  As you research and learn more about your own task, the class as a whole will be reading about Teddy's treacherous journey through the Amazon.  With the information that you gather from class readings, lectures, and the research from your task, you will learn what it was like to be an explorer in an unknown region of the world.  You and the members of your group will put all your research together and present your findings to the class.     

You will also be responsible for keeping a journal throughout this time.  You can write about things that interest you from the book or from your research.  I encourage you to write as if you are a member of the expedition.  The purpose of the journal entries is keep note of the journey of your own discovery process as you research and learn about Teddy's journey down the River of Doubt.
